The curves of the body and the edges of the mind.

We all perceive ourselves in different ways. We only see a representation of “Self” as a collective societal mirror image.
What we see on the silver screen or in other media is important, we need to recognise ourselves as a positive part of society.
But we continue to hide our edges with a smile and we cover our curves with walls and doors.

The raw clay is what you recognise but the colour within is waiting to be seen.

This collection is to highlight the importance of body positivity but the difficulties many have in achieving that.

Karen pushes the clay to its limits, making it thin and stretched but the forms are undulating and squeezed, creating anthropomorphic vessels that are trying to fit in but they are unique and they stand beautifully alone with no expectations of needing to be anything else. They look free and uninhibited.
